۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 apart from Allah, and direct them to the path of Hell, 23 and halt them [there]!" [And then,] behold, they shall be asked, 24 'Why do you not help one another? 25 No, today they will resign themselves in submission, 26 And they will turn to one another, and question one another. 27 "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness". 28 They will say: “Nay, you yourselves were not the ones who would believe. 29 And we had over you no authority, but ye were a people exorbitant. 30 Thus, the words of Our Lord about us have come true and now we are suffering the torment. 31 we perverted you, indeed, we were perverts' 32 So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment. 33 Thus do We treat the culprits. 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 And they said: are we going to abandon our gods on account of a poet distracted? 36 "Surely, he has brought the truth, confirming those who were sent before; 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 Save the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 40 For them there is a known provision, 41 and fruits while they are honored. 42 In Gardens of peace. 43 Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity): 44 A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them, 45 White, delicious for the drinkers. 46 There will neither be any harm in it for their body nor will it intoxicate their mind. 47 They will have with them loving wives with big black and white eyes 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 They will turn to each other and ask questions. 50 Said one of the speakers: "I had a friend 51 Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). 52 That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'" 53 And he will reply: 'Are you looking down (into Hell)' 54 Then he looks, and sees him in the midst of Hell. 55 He will say to his friend in hell, "By God, you almost destroyed me. 56 And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up. 57 Are we then not to die 58 "Except our first death, and that we shall not be punished?" 59 This will indeed be great happiness. 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. 64 Its crop is as it were the heads of devils 65 Then most surely they shall eat of it and fill (their) bellies with it. 66 And behold, above all this they will be confounded with burning despair! 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 Verily they found their fathers gone astray. 69 Yet they hasten to follow in their footsteps. 70 And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples, 71 And We had already sent among them warners. 72 Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! 73 except the sincere worshipers of Allah. 74
