He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and in awe [of God] 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
