The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 Arise and warn! 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 thy robes purify 4 shun uncleanness; 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave Me alone, (to deal) with the (creature) whom I created (bare and) alone!- 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 Yet he desires that I should give more. 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then looked he, 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 scorching the flesh; 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31
