The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 The night a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 a fitting requital, 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
