The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heaven and the night-comer 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. 17
God the Almighty always says the truth.
