The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 That issued from between the loins and ribs. 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 Let, then, the deniers of the truth have their will: let them have their will for a little while. 17
