The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Sun and his (glorious) splendour; 1 And the moon when she followeth him, 2 and by the day as it reveals its glory 3 And by the night as it conceals it (the sun); 4 And the heaven and Him Who made it, 5 The earth and its spreading out, 6 by the soul and Who shaped it 7 And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it. 8 Indeed successful is the one who made it pure. 9 And indeed he fails who corrupts his ownself (i.e. disobeys what Allah has ordered by rejecting the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism or by following polytheism, etc. or by doing every kind of evil wicked deeds). 10 Thamood belied in their pride 11 When the most wicked among them stood up in defiance. 12 But the Messenger of Allah [Salih (Saleh)] said to them: "Be cautious! Fear the evil end. That is the she-camel of Allah! (Do not harm it) and bar it not from having its drink!" 13 Then they belied him and they hamstrung her; wherefore their Lord overwhelmed them for their crime, and made it equal. 14 He does not fear the result (of their destruction). 15
