Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O thou wrapped up in thy raiment! 1 stand up to pray for much of the night. 2 (a half of it, or diminish a little, 3 Or a little more, and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. 4 Behold, We shall bestow upon thee a weighty message 5 Prayer at night leaves the strongest impression on one's soul and the words spoken are more consistent. 6 You are indeed much occupied during the day with the affairs of the world. 7 But keep in remembrance the name of thy Lord and devote thyself to Him whole-heartedly. 8 Lord of the East and the West; there is no Allah save Him; so choose thou Him alone for thy defender - 9 And have patience with what they say, and leave them with noble (dignity). 10 And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little. 11 Verily with Us are heavy fetters and Scorch. 12 And food that chokes and a painful punishment - 13 On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. 14 Surely We have sent to you an Apostle, a witness against you, as We sent an apostle to Firon. 15 In response Firaun disobeyed the Noble Messenger, so We seized him with a severe seizure. 16 How then, if ye disbelieve, shall ye escape, on a Day which shall make children grey-headed? 17 And the heaven shall be split therein. His promise indeed must be fulfilled. 18 This, surely, is an admonition. So let him who will, take the right path to his Lord. 19
