۞ Thy Lord hath decreed that ye worship none but Him, and that ye be kind to parents. Whether one or both of them attain old age in thy life, say not to them a word of contempt, nor repel them, but address them in terms of honour. 23 And lower to them the wing of humbleness out of mercy and say: 'My Lord, be merciful to them, as they raised me since I was little' 24 Your Lord is Well Aware of what is in your hearts; if you are worthy, then indeed He is Oft Forgiving for those who repent. 25 And give the relatives their rights, and to the needy, and to the traveller; and do not waste needlessly. 26 Indeed those who needlessly waste are brothers of the devils; and the devil is very ungrateful to his Lord. 27 And even if thou hast to turn away from them in pursuit of the Mercy from thy Lord which thou dost expect, yet speak to them a word of easy kindness. 28 Do not be niggardly, nor extravagant that you may later feel reprehensive and constrained. 29 Lo! thy Lord enlargeth the provision for whom He will, and straiteneth (it for whom He will). Lo, He was ever Knower, Seer of His slaves. 30
