The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Closer and closer to mankind comes their Reckoning: yet they heed not and they turn away. 1 Never cometh there unto them a new reminder from their Lord but they listen to it while they play, 2 their hearts are diverted. The harmdoers mutter to one another: 'Is this anything else but a human like yourself? What, will you follow sorcery with your eyes open' 3 Say: "My Lord knoweth (every) word (spoken) in the heavens and on earth: He is the One that heareth and knoweth (all things)." 4 Aye! they say: a medley of dreams; aye! he hath fabricated it; aye! he is a poet; so let him bring us a sign even as the ancients were sent with. 5 Not one city that We destroyed before them believed; what then, will they not believe? 6 And We sent not before you (O Muhammad SAW) but men to whom We inspired, so ask the people of the Reminder [Scriptures - the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel)] if you do not know. 7 nor did We fashion them as bodies that ate not food, neither were they immortal; 8 Our promise to them came true and We saved them and those whom We wanted, but destroyed the unjust people. 9 We have revealed a Book to you which is admonition for you. Will you not then understand? 10
