The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the star when it goes down, (or vanishes). 1 Your companion did not err, nor did he go astray. 2 nor does he speak out of his desire. 3 It is not but a revelation revealed, 4 One of mighty powers hath taught it him. 5 One vigorous; and he grew clear to view 6 while he was in the highest horizon; 7 and then drew near, and came close, 8 Till he was (distant) two bows' length or even nearer, 9 And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed. 10 His heart lies not of what he saw; 11 will you, then, contend with him as to what he saw? 12 And assuredly he saw him at another descent. 13 by the lote-tree of the farthest limit, 14 Close to which is the Garden of Tranquility, 15 When that which covers covered the lote-tree; 16 The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). 17 and he certainly saw some of the greatest Signs of His Lord. 18 Have you ever thought about al-Lat and al-Uzza, 19 and your third idol al-Manat (whom you considered as God's daughters)? 20 What! unto you the males and unto Him the females? 21 Then that is surely a very unjust distribution! 22 These are nothing but names that you and your forefathers have invented, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They are merely following their conjectures and their carnal desires although guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Or shall man have whatever he fancies? 24 To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. 25
