After we have died and become mere dust and bones, shall we, forsooth, be raised from the dead? 47 We and our fathers of old? 48 Say: The first and the last, 49 Are going to be assembled on the appointed time of a Day Known. 50 Then you, the erring ones and those that gave the lie to the Truth, 51 "You verily will eat of the trees of Zaqqum. 52 "Then will ye fill your insides therewith, 53 and thereupon you shall drink boiling water, 54 and you will drink as the lapping of thirsty camels. 55 Thus shall they be entertained on the Day of Recompense. 56 We have created you, why do you not then assent? 57 Then tell Me (about) the human semen that you emit. 58 Create him ye, or are We the Creator? 59 We have ordained death among you and We are not to be overcome, 60 Had We so wished, nothing could have hindered Us from replacing you by others like yourselves, or transforming you into beings you know nothing about. 61 And ye certainly know already the first form of creation: why then do ye not celebrate His praises? 62 Have you seen what you sow? 63 Do you give it its increase, or are We the giver? 64 Had We wanted, We could have crushed it to bits and you would have been left to lament, 65 crying, "We have been left to suffer loss. 66 Aye! we are deprived! 67 So what is your opinion regarding the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who cause it from the rainclouds to come down, or are We the Causer of it to come down? 69 If We willed, surely We would make it brackish. Wherefore give ye not thanks? 70 Behold! the fire which ye strike out: 71 Is it ye who grow the tree which feeds the fire, or do We grow it? 72 We! it is We Who made it a reminder and a provision unto the campers. 73 Extol, then, the limitless glory of thy Sustainer's mighty name! 74
