The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 Rise up and warn! 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 And all abomination shun! 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 And yet he desires that I should add more! 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 Then he looked round; 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians. 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 I will soon fling him into hell. 26 And what do you know what Hell is? 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
