The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
