The tribe of Ad rejected the Messengers. 123 When their brother Hood said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 124 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 125 "So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I ask no recompense of you; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 127 Do you build monuments on every high place in vanity, 128 And you make strong fortresses that perhaps you may 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants! 130 So be fearful of God and follow me. 131 Fear Him who has given you all the things you know. 132 He has bestowed on you cattle, and sons, 133 And gardens and watersprings. 134 I fear the punishment of a terrible day for you. 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether thou admonish us or be not among (our) admonishers! 136 this is nothing but a habit of the ancients: 137 “And we will not be punished.” 138 In this there is evidence (of the Truth), yet most of them do not have any faith. 139 And lo! thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
