This surely is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe: 192 The Faithful Spirit has descended with it, 193 upon thy heart, [O Muhammad] so that thou mayest be among those who preach 194 in a clear, Arabic tongue. 195 And indeed, it is [mentioned] in the scriptures of former peoples. 196 Was it not a sign for them known to the learned of the Children of Israel? 197 But [even] had We bestowed it from on high upon any of the non-Arabs, 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused this (Admonition) to penetrate the hearts of the culprits (like a hot rod). 200 They will not believe in it till they behold the painful doom, 201 And it shall come to them all of a sudden, while they shall not perceive; 202 Then they will say: are we to be respited? 203 Seek haste then they with our torment? 204 Did you consider that if We were to let them enjoy life for many years 205 and then Our torment will strike them, 206 All that with which they used to enjoy shall not avail them. 207 Never have We destroyed a town without sending down messengers to warn it, 208 We have never been unjust to anyone. 209 No evil ones have brought down this (Revelation): 210 It is not allowable for them, nor would they be able. 211 Truly, they are expelled from hearing. 212 So do not call on any deity besides God, lest you incur His punishment. 213 And warn thy tribe of near kindred, 214 And lower your wing to those who follow you of the believers. 215 Then if they disobey you say to them: "I am quit of what you do." 216 Have trust in the Majestic and All-merciful God, 217 Who watches you when you stand up. 218 and sees your movements among those who prostrate themselves: 219 He is all-hearing and all-knowing. 220 Shall I inform you, (O people!), on whom it is that the evil ones descend? 221 They come to every sinful liar. 222 Who give ear, and most of them are liars. 223 And the astray follow the poets. 224 Do you not see that in every valley they roam 225 And they speak what they do not do? 226 Except those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah often and defend [the Muslims] after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned. 227
