The Poets (Alshu'araa')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Ta, Seen, Meem. 1 These are the verses of the illustrious Book. 2 Wouldst thou, perhaps, torment thyself to death [with grief] because they [who live around thee] refuse to believe [in it]? 3 But if We had so willed, We could have sent down to them a sign from the heavens so that their heads would be bowed down before it in utter humility. 4 But never fresh remembrance comes to them from the All-merciful, except they turn away from it. 5 So they have indeed rejected (the truth), therefore the news of that which they mock shall soon come to them. 6 Do they not look at the earth, how We caused a variety of fine vegetation to grow from it (in abundance)? 7 Lo! herein is indeed a portent; yet most of them are not believers. 8 truly, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 9
