The people of Lut gave the lie to the apostles. 160 When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear God? 161 I am for you a faithful Messenger, 162 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 164 "Must you, of all people, [lustfully] approach men, 165 “And leave the wives your Lord has created for you? In fact you are people who exceed the limits.” 166 They said: "O Lot! If you do not desist, you will be one of those expelled (from our towns)." 167 He said: "I am, indeed, of those who disapprove with severe anger and fury your (this evil) action (of sodomy). 168 My Lord! Save me and my household from what they do. 169 So We saved him and his family, all, 170 Except an old woman who lingered behind. 171 But the rest We destroyed utterly. 172 And We rained on them a rain. And dreadful is the rain of those who have been warned. 173 In this there is an evidence of the Truth, but many of them did not have any faith. 174 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 175
