The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Mount (of Revelation); 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 in a parchment unrolled, 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 And the swollen sea 6 Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; 7 there is none to avert it. 8 On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking. 9 And the mountains will pass on, departing - 10 Woe, then, on that Day to those who give the lie (to this Message) 11 Those who in wading sport themselves. 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 “This is the fire, which you used to deny!” 14 Is it magic, or you cannot see? 15 Taste you therein its heat, and whether you are patient of it or impatient of it, it is all the same. You are only being requited for what you used to do. 16 [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, 18 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 They will say: "Behold, aforetime - when we were [still living] in the midst of our kith and kin - we were full of fear [at the thought of God's displeasure]: 26 and so God has graced us with His favour, and has warded off from us all suffering through the scorching winds [of frustration]. 27 "Truly, we did call unto Him from of old: truly it is He, the Beneficent, the Merciful!" 28
