The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
25 verses, revealed in Mecca after Shattering (Al-Infitaar) before The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
