He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 you attended to him, 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And he feareth 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 olives, dates, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
