The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On studded thrones. 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and spreading shade 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And abundant fruit, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 and upraised couches. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virgins. 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
