The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
