Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 in a sublime garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
