The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Most Merciful 1 Taught the Qur'an, 2 He created the human 3 and He taught him speech. 4 [At His behest] the sun and the moon run their appointed courses; 5 [before Him] prostrate themselves the stars and the trees. 6 And the heaven, He raised it high, and He made the balance 7 that you may not transgress in the balance, 8 And establish weight in justice and do not make deficient the balance. 9 And earth -- He set it down for all beings, 10 Wherein are fruit and sheathed palm-trees, 11 and grain in the blade, and fragrant herbs. 12 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 13 He created the human being from clay like that used for pottery 14 And the jinns did He create from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 16 (He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter). 17 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 18 He has made the two oceans meet each other, 19 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. 20 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 21 From them come forth the pearl and the coral. 22 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 23 And His are the ships going and coming in the seas, like mountains. 24 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 25
