And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 And lo, thy Lord! Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
