Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By (the winds) that scatter dust. 1 by the clouds which are heavily loaded with water, 2 And those [ships] sailing with ease 3 and distributing the command of God at His behest! 4 Undoubtedly, the promise you are given is surely true. 5 And verily the Requital is surely to befall. 6 by the heaven full of tracks, 7 Verily ye are in a divided opinion. 8 From which only he turns who is turned away. 9 Perish will those who just guess and speculate, 10 Who are within a flood [of confusion] and heedless. 11 They ask, "When it will be the Day of Judgment?" 12 It will be the Day when they shall be scourged by the Fire 13 (And told:) "Taste your punishment. This is what you were trying to hasten." 14 The pious ones will live amidst gardens and springs, 15 Taking that which their Lord giveth them; for lo! aforetime they were doers of good; 16 They used to sleep but little in the night. 17 And in the hour of early dawn, they (were found) praying for Forgiveness; 18 And from their properties was [given] the right of the [needy] petitioner and the deprived. 19 In the earth there is evidence (of the Truth) for those who have strong faith. 20 just as [there are signs thereof] within your own selves: can you not, then, see? 21 And in the heaven is your sustenance and what you are threatened with. 22 for, by the Sustainer of heaven and earth, this [life after death] is the very truth - as true as that you are endowed with speech! 23
