The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise, and warn, 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 Purify your inner self, 4 And stay away from idols. 5 And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allah's obedience as a favour to Allah). 6 And for the good-will of thy Lord be thou patient. 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 So that is a tough day. 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 And give him vast riches, 12 And children present [with him] 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 and who still desires more. 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 Lo! He reflected, and determined -- 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 Then he beheld, 21 Then he frowned and he scowled; 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 This is naught else than speech of mortal man. 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 It glows and burns the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). 30 We have made only angels as the keepers of the fire (for they are the strongest in carrying out Our commands). Our informing (people) of the numbers of these angels is a trial for the disbelievers. It gives more certainty to the people of the Book and strengthens the faith of the believers. The people of the Book and the believers have no doubt about it. We have fixed the number to make the disbelievers and those whose hearts are sick say, "What does God mean by such a parable?" Thus, God guides and causes to go astray whomever He wants. No one knows about the army of your Lord except He Himself. This parable is a reminder for mankind. 31
