The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
