The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount; 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 And the roof exalted, 5 and by the swelling ocean, 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 there is none who could avert it. 8 on the Day when the skies are convulsed, 9 And the mountains will fly hither and thither. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth 11 and amuse themselves with vain argumentation. 12 On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push. 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 As to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness,- 17 Rejoicing because of what their Lord gave them, and their Lord saved them from the punishment of the burning fire. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 And We shall increasingly give them fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 And some of them draw near to others, questioning. 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 but Allah has been gracious to us and has protected us from the punishment of the burning wind. 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
