The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 The night a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
