The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
