Has the story reached you, of the honoured guests [three angels; Jibrael (Gabriel) along with another two] of Ibrahim (Abraham)? 24 When they came in unto him and said: peace! he said: peace! people unknown. 25 Then he turned quietly to his household, and brought forth a fat [roasted] calf, 26 and he laid it before them saying, 'Will you not eat?' 27 He began to feel afraid. They said, "Do not be afraid," and then gave him the glad news of the birth of a knowledgeable son. 28 (Sarah) his wife came with an exclamation and clasped her face, and said: 'Surely, I am a barren old woman' 29 They said: Even so saith thy Lord. Lo! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Then for what purpose you have come, O Messengers?" 31 They said, "We have been sent to a people (deep) in sin;- 32 to let loose upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement, 33 Marked by your Lord for those who waste their substance." 34 So We brought the believers out of that they were in. 35 And We found not therein more than one house of the Muslims. 36 And so We left therein a message for those who fear the grievous suffering [which awaits all evildoers]. 37 AND IN [the story of Pharaoh and] Moses, too, [We left the same message: for] when We sent him unto Pharaoh with [Our] manifest authority, 38 But he turned to his counsellors, and said: "He is a magician or lunatic." 39 So We seized him and his hosts and cast them into the sea. Indeed, he was blameworthy. 40 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Ad, when We let loose upon them an ominous wind 41 that left nothing that it came upon without reducing it to rubble. 42 And in [the story of the tribe of] Thamud, too, when they were told, "You shall enjoy your life for [but] a little while," 43 But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord: So the stunning noise (of an earthquake) seized them, even while they were looking on. 44 And neither stand up nor defend themselves. 45 Before all these We destroyed the people of Noah: they were a wicked people. 46
