The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and clustered bananas, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 Gushing water, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 on raised couches. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 So made them as maidens. 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
