The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
There was certainly a time when there was no mention of the human being. 1 Verily We created man from a sperm yoked (to the ovum) to bring out his real substance, then gave him hearing and sight. 2 Indeed, We have guided him to the path, he is either grateful or ungrateful. 3 Indeed, for the unbelievers We have prepared chains, fetters and a Blazing (Fire). 4 the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah will drink, causing it to gush forth abundantly. 6 They (are those who) fulfill (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil will be wide-spreading. 7 And out of His love, they give food to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner. 8 [Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude. 9 Indeed, We fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful." 10 So God will protect them from the evil of that day, and grant them happiness and joy, 11 and recompense them for their patience with a Garden, and robes of silk. 12 Where they will recline on couches feeling neither heat of the sun nor intense cold. 13 And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance. 14 Rounds of silver cups and silver beakers, looking like glass, will be presented upon them. 15 (Transparent as) glass, made of silver; they have measured them according to a measure. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink of a cup whereof the admixture will be ginger. 17 A spring there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ There boys of everlasting youth shall go about attending them: when you see them, you would think that they are scattered pearls. 19 And when thou lookest them thou shalt behold delight and a dominion magnificent. 20 They [i.e., the virtuous] shall be attired in garments of fine green silk and rich brocade and will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure wine to drink. 21 "Verily this is a Reward for you, and your Endeavour is accepted and recognised." 22
