He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him you give attention. 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 lofty and pure, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 May man be slain how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And produce therein corn, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
