The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and spreading shade 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 We have made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
