The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
