The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water poured out 31 and fruit abounding, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And raised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
