Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ SAY: "I HAVE been informed that a number of jinns had listened; then said: 'We have heard the wondrous Qur'an, 1 Guiding unto rectitude; wherefore we have believed therein, and we shall by no means associate with our Lord anyone. 2 ‘And that our Lord’s Majesty is Supreme – He has neither chosen a wife nor a child.’ 3 ‘And that the fool among us used to utter false exaggerations against Allah.’ 4 And we had thought that mankind and the jinn would never speak about Allah a lie. 5 And indeed (O Muhammad) individuals of humankind used to invoke the protection of individuals of the jinn, so that they increased them in revolt against Allah); 6 And they had thought, as you thought, that Allah would never send anyone [as a messenger]. 7 And we stretched towards heaven, but we found it filled with terrible guards and meteors. 8 And we were wont to sit on seats therein to listen; but whosoever listeneth now findeth for him a dartin meteor in wait. 9 And we know not whether evil is boded for those who are on the earth, or whether their Lord intendeth for them a right direction. 10 As for us, some of us are righteous and others are not. We have all followed different ways. 11 And we know that we cannot escape from Allah in the earth, nor can we escape by flight. 12 And that when we heard the guidance, we believed in it; so whoever believes in his Lord, he should neither fear loss nor being overtaken (by disgrace): 13 And of us some are Muslims, and of us some are deviators. Then whosoever hath embraced Islam - such have endeavoured after a path of rectitude. 14 'But those who swerve,- they are (but) fuel for Hell-fire'- 15 (And Allah's Message is): "If they (the Pagans) had (only) remained on the (right) Way, We should certainly have bestowed on them Rain in abundance. 16 That We may test them thereby, and whoso turneth away from the remembrance of his Lord; He will thrust him into ever-growing torment. 17 The mosques are for God's worship -- so do not invoke anyone else along with God -- 18 "Yet when the Devotee of Allah stands forth to invoke Him, they just make round him a dense crowd." 19
