The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 (It is) the piercing star. 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
