The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 And by oath of the day when it shines 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 and believes in the truth of what is right, 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 and rejects what is right, 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, 18 And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 He surely will be pleased (when he will enter Paradise). 21

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
