I told them, "Messengers, eat from the pure things and act righteously; I know all that you do. 51 And indeed this, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so fear Me." 52 But their nations broke their tasks into pieces; every group happy with what it has. 53 So leave them in their intoxication till a time. 54 Do they fancy that Our continuing to give them wealth and children (means) that 55 We hasten unto them with good things (in this worldly life so that they will have no share of good things in the Hereafter)? Nay, but they perceive not. 56 Indeed those who are overwhelmed due to the fear of their Lord – 57 and those who believe in the signs of their Lord 58 and those who associate naught with their Lord 59 And those who give what they give (in alms) while their hearts are full of fear that to their Lord they must return, 60 it is they who vie with one another in doing good works and shall be the foremost in doing so. 61 We do not burden a soul beyond capacity, for We have a record that tells the truth. No wrong will be done to any one. 62 In fact, the hearts of the unbelievers are in the dark because of their ignorance of real virtue; they act against it. 63 Until, when We grasp those of them who lead a luxurious life with punishment, behold! They make humble invocation with a loud voice. 64 (We shall say): 'Do not groan today, surely you shall receive no help from Us' 65 "My Signs used to be rehearsed to you, but ye used to turn back on your heels- 66 behaving arrogantly, and making fun, and talking nonsense (about the Book in your nightly chats)." 67 Why did they not think over the message? Or has something come to them which had not come to their fathers? 68 Or did they not know their Messenger, so they are toward him disacknowledging? 69 Or do they say that there is madness in him? Nay, he has brought them the Truth and it is the Truth that most of them disdain. 70 Had the truth followed their fancies, the heavens, the earth, and all who live in them would have surely been corrupted. No, We brought them their Remembrance; but from their Remembrance they turn away. 71 Or is it that thou askest them for some recompense? But the recompense of thy Lord is best: He is the Best of those who give sustenance. 72 and, most surely, you are calling them to a straight path. 73 And verily those who believe not in the Hereafter are deviating from that Way. 74 ۞ And if We show mercy to them and remove the distress they have, they would persist in their inordinacy, blindly wandering on. 75 We already seized them with the chastisement, yet they abased not themselves to their Lord nor were they humble; 76 until We open before them a gate of harsh punishment and then they will be dumbfounded. 77
