The Thamud belied the sent ones 141 when their brother Salih said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 142 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 143 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 144 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 145 Will ye be left secure in that which is here before us, 146 among gardens and fountains, 147 and cornfields and date-palms laden with juicy fruits? 148 Though ye hew out dwellings in the mountain, being skilful? 149 So fear Allah and obey me. 150 Do not obey the order of the wasteful, 151 Who corrupt the land and do not reform it." 152 They said, "You are only of those affected by magic. 153 You are but a man like ourselves, so bring a sign, if you should be of the truthful." 154 He said: 'Here is a shecamel. She shall have her share of water as you have yours on an appointed day. 155 “And do not touch her with evil intentions for the punishment of the Great Day will seize you.” 156 But they hamstrung her, and in the morning they were remorseful, 157 So the retribution came on them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 158 And lo! thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 159

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
