The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 Then outpace the others swiftly 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 And they will wake up suddenly. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 then he mustered 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. 25 Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allah. 26
