We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them without purpose, even though this is the belief of the disbelievers. Woe to the disbelievers; they will suffer the torment of fire 27 Shall We make those who believe and do good deeds equal to those who spread turmoil in the earth? Or shall We equate the pious with the disobedient? 28 We have sent down a Book to you which is blessed, so that people may apply their minds to its revelations, and the men of wisdom may reflect. 29 We granted Solomon to David, a blessed servant of Ours and certainly the most repentant person. 30 And when one evening well-trained and running horses of noble breed were brought to him 31 And he said, "Indeed, I gave preference to the love of good [things] over the remembrance of my Lord until the sun disappeared into the curtain [of darkness]." 32 (he ordered): “Bring these horses back to me,” and then he began to gently stroke their shanks and necks. 33 But [ere this,] indeed, We had tried Solomon by placing upon his throne a [lifeless] body; and thereupon he turned [towards Us; and] 34 He prayed, "Lord forgive me! Grant me such power as no one after me will have -- You are the Most Generous Provider." 35 We subjected the wind to him, so that it blew gently at his bidding, wherever he directed it, 36 And We subjected to him the evil ones: every builder and diver. 37 The rest of the devils were bound in chains. 38 (Saying): This is Our gift, so bestow thou, or withhold, without reckoning. 39 Indeed an exalted position of nearness awaits him and an excellent resort. 40
