In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
You, who have wrapped yourself up with a mantle, 1 Stand (to pray) all night, except a little. 2 It may be half the night or a little less than that 3 and recite the Quran in a distinct tone; 4 For we shall charge thee with a word of weight. 5 Indeed, the first part of night is heavier in tread, and more upright in speech. 6 You have by day prolonged occupations. 7 So remember the name of thy Lord and devote thyself with a complete devotion - 8 He is the only Lord, so choose Him as your guardian. 9 And be patient over what they say and avoid them with gracious avoidance. 10 Leave Me to deal with the deniers, lords of ease and comfort (in this life); and do thou respite them awhile. 11 We have fetters (for them) and a blazing fire, 12 and a food that chokes, and a grievous chastisement. 13 upon the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains become a slipping heap of sand. 14 We have sent a messenger who is a witness over you, just as We sent a messenger to Pharoah before you. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure. 16 How, then, will you guard yourselves, if you disbelieve, on the day which shall make children grey-headed? 17 the Day whose severity shall cause the heaven to split asunder? Allah's promise is ever bound to be fulfilled. 18 Verily, this is an admonition, therefore whosoever will, let him take a Path to His Lord! 19
