The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 arise and give warning! 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 Purify your inner self, 4 And all defilement shun! 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 And for the good-will of thy Lord be thou patient. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, 11 And then bestowed upon him ample means, 12 and children as [love's] witnesses, 13 And made things easy for them. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 He reflected and then hatched a scheme. 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Again, death seized him, how was his determining! 20 Then he beheld, 21 frowned and scowled, 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 [Hence,] I shall cause him to endure hell-fire [in the life to come]! 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 Burning the skins! 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
