The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the great tidings! 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 The night a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 Requital corresponding. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
