He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And he feareth 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And produce therein corn, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
