The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 And it (the Quran) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan). 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
